Sticky notes that keep time.

Give any note a countdown or a deadline. The tape holding it up counts down, turns amber when it’s close and red when it’s late, and the note rings when time’s up. Tuck the rest into the notch.

Made-up notes: a tea timer with two and a half minutes left, a 25-minute writing timer, and a call that's 18 minutes overdue. The countdowns tick live.

Try it. Write one with a timer.

This works like the app’s Quick Note. A duration at the end starts a timer; a time like “by 5pm” sets a deadline. Press ⤒ on a note to tuck it into the notch.

A sketch of the app in your browser. The real thing is a native Mac app.

A note for every moment. On your desktop.

The tape is the timer

Every note is held up by a strip of tape. With a timer or deadline, its length is the time left and its colour how close it is.

Timers

1 minute to 99 hours. Pause, add five minutes, reset.

Deadlines

A date and time, with picks like “Tomorrow, 9 AM” and a heads-up before, if you like.

Tuck notes into the notch

Two small ears beside the camera show how many and the next countdown. Point at the notch and they drop down. No notch? A slim strip in the menu bar.

It rings when it’s time

The note comes to the front and shakes. Allow notifications and macOS tells you too, even with the app in the background.

Questions, answered.

Which permissions does StickyNotch need?

Only notifications, and only if you want them. macOS asks when you press Allow Notifications, on the welcome or in Settings, and StickyNotch explains what you’ll get first. It never asks for Accessibility, Screen Recording, Full Disk Access or an admin password. The ⌃⌥N shortcut works without any permission.

What if I don’t allow notifications?

Notes still count down, and when time’s up the note comes to the front, shakes and plays a sound, while StickyNotch is open. You just won’t get a macOS banner when it’s in the background.

My Mac doesn’t have a notch. Can I still tuck notes away?

Yes. On a Mac without a notch (or on an external display) the tray hangs from a slim strip in the middle of the menu bar, showing how many notes are tucked and the next countdown.

What happens if my Mac is asleep when a timer ends?

With notifications on, macOS delivers it when the Mac wakes. The note rings when you’re back, once, so a deadline missed overnight doesn’t keep nagging.

Does anything leave my Mac?

No. Notes are saved in a small file on your Mac. There’s no account and no sync. StickyNotch only goes online to check your license and look for updates — see the privacy policy.

Can I format text, add checklists or pictures?

No. Notes are plain text on purpose: quick to write, quick to read. Dashes and bullets you type stay as they are.

Does it sync with my iPhone?

No, it’s Mac only. Copy All Notes as Text (in the File menu) gets every note out at once.

macOS says it can’t verify the developer.

StickyNotch is distributed from this website instead of the App Store, so macOS asks you to confirm the first time. Here’s how to open it.

Is there a free trial?

No. Use the working sketch on this page, and the screenshots of the real app, to see exactly how StickyNotch works.

Can I use StickyNotch on more than one Mac?

Yes. The 3-Mac and 5-Mac plans cover several Macs with one license key. To move a license, choose “Deactivate this Mac” on the old one, then activate on the new one.
